PortoBay Group:
The Atlantic Experience

The PortoBay Group oversees a prestigious collection of 17 properties across Portugal and Brazil, offering approximately 4,050 beds within the luxury 4 and 5-star segments. With 14 hotels in Portugal—including a significant presence of eight on the island of Madeira—and three iconic locations in Brazil, the group maintains a diverse portfolio of unique concepts. Each property is united by a commitment to superior quality and the distinct excellence of the PortoBay brand.

According to the group’s leadership, the PortoBay slogan serves as a poignant nod to its roots on the island of Madeira and its subsequent expansion across the Atlantic. By establishing a presence in both Portugal and Brazil, the brand has successfully tapped into the historical narrative of the Age of Discovery, framing its growth as a modern revival of those maritime links.

The chairman attributes the group’s success to a meticulous selection of prime locations, whether in bustling urban centers or serene resorts—a strategy consistently validated by guest feedback. Indeed, data suggests that "the Atlantic experience," combined with strong word-of-mouth recommendations, remains the primary driver for new visitors. It is this specific coastal identity that continues to propel the group toward its next horizon.

Guest satisfaction is reflected in consistently high occupancy levels, frequently reaching between 95% and 100%. The brand’s success is further demonstrated by guest loyalty: in 2025, one in three guests returned to PortoBay, and 24% experienced a second property within the portfolio
