BLANDY’S BICENTENNIAL TASTINGS AT THE BLANDY WINE LODGE

200 Years Celebrations of the establishment of Blandy's Madeira Wine in Madeira since 1811
The Blandy Family hosted the final bicentenary tasting at their wine lodge in the centre of Funchal on the 23rd of September 2011.
The tasting started with an introduction from the group’s Chairman, Michael Blandy, who spoke about the family’s future commitment to the company that started life on the island 200 years ago. The tasting was then led by the CEO of the Blandy’s Madeira Wine Company, Chris Blandy, and Francisco Albuquerque, head winemaker and 3-time fortified winemaker of the year at the International Wine Challenge.
Guests included international and national distributors, Portuguese press, local personalities and the local trade.
The wines tasted were: Malmsey Colheita 1994 (bottled 2010), Blandy’s Malmsey 1985 (bottled 2009), Blandy’s Terrantez 1976 (bottled 2002), Blandy’s Bual 1968 (bottled 2004), Blandy’s Sercial 1966 (bottled 2004), Blandy’s Bastardo 1954 (bottled 1994), Blandy’s 1954 Malmsey (bottled 1975), Sercial 1950 (bottled 1981), Blandy’s Bual 1920 (bottled 2006), Blandy’s Sercial 1910 (Bottled 1984, recorked 2003), Blandy’s Bual 1874 (bottled 1921, recorked in 1986), Bual Solera 1811 (Bottled 1900, re-corked 1986)
